There are plenty of things I could blog about that I haven't and maybe never will. I mean, who really cares about our trips, our own celebrations or what we do on the weekends? We really aren't that interesting. We wake up, work long days, sometimes make dinner (but mostly pick up $5.00 Little Ceasars pizzas, Cafe Rio or pour ourselves a bowl of cereal), cuddle up on the couch and watch our shows. We are homebodies who sometimes venture out of our comfort zone to explore the world, celebrate others or volunteer, but for the most part we spend our time just being. I know my blog makes it sound like we do much more, but honestly we don't... and I am totally ok with that.
For those days when we are up for an adventure, I am trying to live in the moment, which doesn't include taking pictures solely for blogging or checking in on Facebook. I was listening to a radio station the other day and they were talking about 5 things that can cause unnecessary and unnoticed stress and guess what, one of those was Facebook! Since I am trying to do everything I can to reduce my stress level, the Facebook had to go. A few weeks ago I deleted the trusty old Facebook and boy has it been a release. It's nice only knowing what's going on in the lives of some people, not being bombarded with pregnancy announcements and ultrasound pics and not spending hours on it at night trying to catch up with everyone whom I have ever known. I feel so liberated that I don't know the current drama, that I now get texts instead of Facebook messages and that I am not constantly comparing myself to others who seem to get so much done AND be beautiful AND crafty AND have three kids. I am not saying it will be gone forever, but for now, I am perfectly content not knowing what is going on and not updating my status about my boring little life. It also helps me to not be so negative regarding this whole baby thing because it's so easy to say something snide on Facebook or voice my frustrations about not being able to get pregnant when it's right there and so interactive. Since I deleted my Facebook so suddenly, please message me your blogs, emails and phone numbers if I don't have them to LaurenNRicci@gmail.com.
Now there are a few things about Facebook that I miss, and one is being able to share things/people I find. I recently was introduced to Lana del Rey and I fell instantly in love. She has such a haunting voice and her song "Videogames" is on constant repeat in my car. Check her out, she is incredible.
I hope she becomes a constant in your car as well. As I always say music is my escape; it keeps my secrets, puts words to my emotions and heals my soul. Right now Lana del Rey is doing just that.... I think I will enjoy her over my glass of new favorite red wine, the Beringer Founder's Estate Pinot Noir. I tried it at Brio a few weeks ago and am in love.
As for everything else, maybe my trip "home" to New Orleans this weekend will take the cynic out of me and bring back a bit of hope. I am sure everyone is tired of my "glass half empty" attitude, I know I am. I hope you all are doing better than I am. Infertility and miscarriages SUCK!
