After my experience with Target's registry, I will never purchase from or personally reg
ister there. This is not because they don’t have anything I like; in fact I think they have great stuff. Their designs are innovative, are well priced, plus they have a Starbucks and these wonderful fruit parfaits in their deli section. Basically, they make for an enjoyable shopping experience and I was excited to spend a day registering there. That was until I found out what their return policy on registries was.Target informed me that without a gift receipt you may only return two things per 365 days a year under the amount of $20.00. So what do you now do with the three extra blenders you received because the registry wasn’t updated when the first person purchased it? I guess open your own margarita and daiquiri bar because that’s the only way you are ever going to use all three! Now what if you have a gift receipt? Target will return it but you may then only purchase from the same department the gift was originally purchased from. So what if you return two hand towels with a gift receipt and want to buy a camcorder instead? Well, you can buy the camcorder but you can’t use the credit from the hand towels toward that purchase because it isn’t from the same department. Doesn’t it seem a little ridiculous to limit what you can spend a store credit on? I mean, it all goes to the same corporation and if they would allow you to use your credit on something large, such as a camcorder, you are most likely going to spend more money than what you returned! Instead, by implementing this crazy return policy, they are leaving a bad taste in the mouths of registerees and isolating a vast majority of their potential customers. I mean, it’s not like brides and mothers-to-be don’t have more to worry about then Target’s silly return policy! Good grief!
on the other hand has PERFECTED the registry. After learning how awful Target’s return policy is and that Costco doesn’t have a registry, we decided to only register at BBB. Not only is their online registry super easy to use, they don’t have any restrictions on their return policy at all, which made buying and returning things much more pleasant. If it was purchased off your registry you can return it, for cash, no questions asked. What other place gives you cash without a receipt besides Costco or Nordstrom?
They also don’t have any limit on how long you have to return things, which in our case was a great thing. We decided not to use the fabulous towels, shower curtain or other bathroom items we received until our bathroom was complete. Well, sometimes you don’t know how colors are going to look together or if that particular item is going to look good where you envisioned it, and you may have to exchange it for something different. With most stores you have 90 days to make a return before they will not exchange it any longer. Not with BBB! They will return it as long as they still stock it! So we held onto all of our bathroom items for 8 months before using them, knowing we could still exchange them if we needed to!
The icing on the cake is the 20% off coupons they send out to you if you are on their mailing list and their 10% registry completion program they offer. I saved SO much money using those discounts and was able to get a lot more stuff. To top it off even further thanks to my raving, I got a little surprise in my mailbox from Bed Bath and Beyond. Since Hannie and Lindy both registered there after I told them how much I loved them, they sent me two $25.00 off a $50.00 purchase as a way to thank me. Now that makes me want to tell everyone! What a great marketing tool and benefit to me!
Our house is now decorated top to bottom in Bed Bath and Beyond items and I love it! I was really impressed with the variety they had and they get new and different things in daily. They are really reasonably priced and I feel as though everything I buy from there is a steal. Every time I walked in with a few things to return, I would always walk out spending more than I returned because I felt my business was valued there and I knew they would back up my purchases. Plus, I know if anything breaks I can pick it up without the box, take it in and they will exchange it for me, no problem. Our coffee grinder has broken three times already and each time I drive down to the store with the old broken one and walk back out with a brand new one!

Now if you really love Target and want something from there, either ask for Target gift cards or use the money you receive from returns at Bed Bath and Beyond to buy it. Trust me, you will save so much time, energy, money and you won’t be stuck with a bunch of stuff you can’t use. I am so happy that BBB is finally starting to carry more baby stuff because when I f
