The Brown/Heim/Ricci's Take Hawaii...

In March my very generous parents took our entire family to Hawaii. We spent 10 glorious days on Oahu and the Big Island relaxing, sightseeing, driving around in the Tang-Stang, laying out, hiking, laughing, eating Loves donuts, taking pictures, swimming with turtles, and rocking out to Party in the USA Nate style. Mike even went Scuba Diving with ginormous Manta Rays and tried his hand at surfing. It was just what both of us needed and it was so nice to be able to spend so much time with one another and my family after how crazy our life has been.

ALOHA!!!

My mom is quite a people collector and knows people all over the country. My mom got to know Joan in 4th grade because she sent a letter to any Hawaiian elementary school and Joan wrote back. They became Pen-Pals and have stayed in touch ever since. That's one trait I love about my mom.
Pearl Harbor.
Mike's company used to make these rockets so I had to get a picture of him with it.
The Big Island is the newest island so there is a lot of lava rock. I don't think it's as pretty as Maui or Oahu but it's the least touristy and there are lots of different parts to the island.
The black sand beach was really cool.
Aaron catching some Zzzs! This is my Emo brother Nate. All over The Big Island there are lava rocks with things spelled out in coral. Mike and I couldn't pass up the opportunity :) Sexy Rexy!
The Tang-Stang Beautiful Harbor
There were SO many turtles on the Big Island. Mike found the secret snorkeling spot where we swam with more than a dozen. They may be slow on land but the are very graceful in the water.
TURTLES!
The view from our Kona Condo.
Eating dinner with the fam at the condo. Our excursions into the rain forest. It was definitely WET!

While on the Big Island we went to Volcano National Park. It was really cool but SUPER windy!
For those of you who don't know, my step dad is a running fanatic! He set a goal for himself about a year ago that he would run a marathon in all 50 states. So far he has run in 8 including Alaska, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, Illinois, Arkansas, Hawaii and the most important Boston, Massachussetts. The day was really wet but he had a good time and it was fun to see him finish! Yay Rod!The finish line. You can't see it but he finished at 4 hours 15 minutes. Not bad considering this was a "practice" marathon and not a Boston qualifier. :)Thanks Mom and Rod for the amazing trip and awesome camera to document it with. We love you!
